Dan Gilroy

Earning a fine arts degree from Queens College, I had the opportunity to study with some remarkable artists like James Brooks, one of the original Abstract Expressionists, and painter Fairfield Porter, and sculptor Richard Serra. Some success in music has afforded me the lifelong luxury of painting without concern for fashion, styles, prices etc. I paint what is fun for me: clouds, water, hills, trees, figures around campfires, sometimes a narrative, something happening within the landscapes. The Texas Hill Country hills are an ongoing inspiration. The nearby hills need the detail of trees, rocks, plants... 

The ones further away can sometimes be explained with just one color.
